Aruba
My home island of Aruba is situated in the southern part of the Caribbean near the coast of Venezuela. We are however part of the Dutch Kingdom and have an apart status within it. Most who have grown up on the island speaks at least 4 languages. Apart from our own native language of “Papiamento” we also speak English, Dutch and Spanish. To you it may seem amazing but for us it only feels natural.
The island itself is not so big at all being 30Km long and about 6Km at its widest point. It currently has about 115.000 inhabitants with a mix of many immigrants from all over the world. Our economy heavily depends on tourism for it’s income after the oil refinery in the city of San Nicolas shut down years ago.
Why we love Aruba
Great Beaches. The island has some of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean including world famous Eagle Beach.
International Cuisine. With so many immigrants living on the island, it’s become a great place to experience the different dishes of the world. From local food trucks to fine dining, there is always something new to try!
Beach side Resorts. Choose from the more laid back smaller resorts at the low rise area or go for a larger (resort) one at Palm Beach where there is always something going on even in the late in the evening.
Explore our Nature. Visit the Arikok National Park for a visit to our Natural Pool, Caves and much more. Drive around the island to explore the contrast of the North & South shores.
The People. Everywhere you go you can find a local who is Happy to help you.
